An ecological design collection in high quality naturally dyed organic cotton.

 

The dyes are extracted from plant and mineral bases - natural indigo for blue, regenerative vines of Indian madder for red, leaves from various local plants for earth hues.

The creative process at Kalakar is influenced by Nature in all her manifestations:  the ebb and flow of ocean tides, sunsets over the ocean, patterns on weather beaten rocks, and the deep red of the earth. These aspects are woven into a story using thread as the medium to illustrate linear patterns through textures, checks and stripes that in their timeless simplicity have the possibility of infinite variation.
